Nitrous on my R?
My goal is to hit high to mid 12s, obviously with the use of NOS. However, I would like to run it as safe as possible and also make the proper safety mods to my engine and such so that I don't have to rebuild it within the month lol... No really, I would like a very safe setup... Any info would be great thanx.. (I know nothing about NOS) so please be good.

I was thinking about that after seeing fast and furious. I'm not even considering putting nitrous on my ITR, but is it even possible?
When I was in highschool I had a 6 cylinder firebird and the people at a performance shop said a 6 cylinder isn't strong enough to hold nitrous, that nitrous is made for cast iron V-8s.
If thats true, how would a high compression, high-revving, all-aluminum 4 cylinder react to it? I would think parts would bend rather quickly.

u gotta learn how fuel works...and how to get fuel to mix with the nitrous....
u can get a stand alone computer like PAUL WALKERS ECLIPSE muahahah....or get bigger injectors...remember the higher the shot the more risk of blowing things up....just like the higher the compression the
more chance of error on tuning can occur...
i run a 75 shot on a gsr and don't intend to go any higher....im satisfied with 13.8 ....
if u really want to get into the 12's u should get a pro direct port kit...100 shot...but 75 is my recommendation ...and its real ez to get an R in the 12's
just gut that beast!

Nitrous oxide if used properly will work on any car, the thing is that people buy a kit a slam on a 150hp jetting on a stock single cam and end up blowing the motor, if you use it in a respectable amount everything will run fine. 12's on the bottle will be a little difficult, if I had a type r I would run a NOS dry manifold kit and I would jet it for 50 horsepower. The key is to do some other mods like, upgrade the clutch, run a set of nice slicks, get a phat throttle body, ect..... With all this done 12's are possable in a R. Before runing the kit do a compression test and make sure the variance between cylinders is close, change your belts if they are worn, change your plugs, and get an oil change. The thing is N20 is great for help prevent detonation because it cools the cumbustion chamber and the nitrogen acts as a buffer. This is how the big V8's can run 12:1 compression and still squeeze. Just don't be stupid with the N20 and everything should go fine. NOS says that any car should be able to safely run 1/2 the n/a horsepower so if a R put out about 190 by NOS standards you can safely run an 80 hp shot. If you want to buy or ask me any questions about N20 feel free to email me at Brandon@team-evolution.net
I dunno... Somehow, I still don't like NOS. I feel it's kinda like steroids for the car. Good for now, but bad in the long run. I know it can be done safely if properly done, but to put NO2 in an R engine just seems wrong.
The R isn't a drag car. It was never meant to be... Only drag cars use NO2.

The type R has an very well build block and is amazingly strong, If I can run a 50 shot on my ZC and an 80 shot on my B16 a R should be able to handle a 50 shot with out a doubt. Just make sure you buy the proper kit, the best thing to do is call NOS and pick their brains about what kit would work best on your application.
