Default Civic Msd

Hey guys i know this kid in my school who has a 98 or 99 civic DX only with an intake and he said that he is gettin an msd for his civic and that he is gona have 160hp. i dont think there is no way to get those gains from an msd, so can u give me ur opinion on this and what gains will he get and what actually does msd do??
I heard from some people that u wont even get 1whp and that it only gives better throttle response??

Thx

With only an intake, it does him nothing.

All he will have is a good loking red box under his hood. NO power gains unless he has either a built motor or has a blower of some sort. Well he might gain 1/10 of a HP. He has no need for that much spark on a stock DX

MSD's are a great asset no matter what condition your car is in. its very beneficial because it allows for better sparks better idiling and not enough power going to the plugs. so all n' all, it won't give you that 50+ hp, but it will give you better milage and better throattle response. so you can idle better and drive better. its not necessairly a performance improvement but yet an economy improvement, it allows for consistent burns and not lost of charge.
i would recommand getting one, and espically if you do have a 160+ motor than it'll help the motor in the top end in higher revs.
