Default Metal Headgasket for d16a6? WHich one?

Sorry, I know this is sooooo simple, but I am leaving in like 10 minutes, and can't remember exactly which oem gasket to use as a metal A6 gasket. I think it was the Z6 gasket, can anyone confirm this? Thanks, sorry for the wasted space. Damn search button

I thought that the Z6 was still a composite head gasket. Y8 is the metal one and that will raise c/r barley enough to count though

i guess we'll find out for sure soon enough.

info from my convo with slowmanEF:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
(1:12 PM 4/9/2003) slowmanEF: does the z6 give higher compression? the HG is what im talking about.

(1:23 PM 4/9/2003) breaka_1_9: i wish i could find the d series info sonny has. basically you take his info and plug it into the c-speed compression ratio and it lets you know what the compression is.

(1:23 PM 4/9/2003) breaka_1_9: here is the c-speed compression ratio calculator. its easy with bseries since its all ready setup for it...
http://www.c-speedracing.com/h...c.php

(1:29 PM 4/9/2003) breaka_1_9: here it is:
http://www.muller.net/sonny/cr...t.gif
basically just plug your info into the c-speed calculator and get a results.

(1:31 PM 4/9/2003) breaka_1_9: so basically 9.1 vs 9.3 (with the z6 gasket)

</TD></TR></TABLE>

i have the y8 HG. it bumps comp by like 0.2. it cost me like $20...were the z6 is like $40. like with everything else its not a perfect bolt-on...i ground the coolant passages out a little to match the stock a6 HG. i dont know if you have to, but i did. other than that its a good swap...no more scraping HG material.

d16z6 gasket is a 3 piece metal gasket. no composite material. direct replacement for the shitty a6 composite gasket.

Cool guys, I went to honda, they couldn't tell me ****. (I didn't read any of these posts, I really meant 10min..haha) So anyways, it was a nice 1hr+ drive to have them tell me they will find out. Ahh well, so I have to call them tomorrow to make sure. I am putting everything back together for Turbo, thats why I wanted to go metal. I will post my final answer tomorrow. Cost of the Z6 gasket is $70can, and the whole kit for the A6 is $403can, which I am not buying btw

btw, honda never got back to me... when I called, they had forgotten. I called uap napa, and they said the z6 head gasket from them was a 3 layer metal gasket. Hope that helps someone... the service up here sucks.

So the z6 HG needs no modifications the the passages? And it is .02? I gonna do this come summer if that's the case.

Default z6/y8

The z6 is thinner, but it is a 3-peice metal gasket. The z6 and y8 are actually now the same. I have both in the garage.

the a6 and z6 came with composite gaskets. it was common to have gasket failiure as the head would shift and wear the gasket down. honda updated it with a metal gasket and different head bolts. and yes they fit both motors. we still stock them at my dealership.
