clutch installation$$$$$$
how much u think it should cost for installation a exedy racing clutch into a 98 civic ex, providing i have my own clutch and wat procedures must be done, i got pple quoting me 320!! cost more then my clutch
wat about the process? is there any work that has to be done for the clutch to fit correctly or modifications, or does it go right in
Well I got a story for you, I bought a Clutch Masters clutch(stage 1, I love it) for $315 from a local shop, I also desiced to have them install it( one of my friends had his clutch installed there too). They quoted me $150, I was like damn, thats a great deal. So all went good until I got my car back. First I took the car to a local car wash to clean it up a little, when I pulled out of the bay there was a small area leak of tranny fluid, So I drove the car back and complained. They didn't replace the seal where the drive axles went into the tranny. Second this was on a friday and they didn't ahve any seals in stock. I was like, ok, I need my car back tomorrow for work. Went back on Saturday and picked up my car, leak free. Went to my friends house and started detailing my car, poped the hood and saw that the shop had not put the ground wire back on the tranny case. No big deal, but still.

My tranny started making this relly bad noise when it was out of gear and there was load on the input shaft of the tranny. The bearings where shoot. Took it to my local Honda dealership where I bought the car(I had the 7 year, 100k warrenty) and they said the bearing where shot and I needed a new tranny, which they covered under warrenty. That was a Monday morning, My car was supposed to be done on Friday. They called me friday(Honda that is) and told me my tranny case was cracked and one bolt thread was crack, they said it had to be done when the clutch was put in. Honda ask me if I wanted to replace the case ($450-bare case). Plus the shop that put my clutch in used regular 5w-30 motor oil in the tranny instead of Honda fluid which is vitial for honda trannies.
I lucked out and warrenty covered my internal tranny damage which was caused by using the wrong oil(what Honda told me) but I still had to pay for the case.
Leason learned: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!!!!!!!!
Be willing to save up the cash to have it installed properly, not have some half-*** shop thry to put you tranny case on by forcing the bolts onto the block with air tools

Yes you want to get your flywheel resurfaced. That's what I am doing. It only costs around $50 to get done. I've decided to do it. I figure spend the extra $50 rather than chance it and fu*! up a $400(that's how much mine ran) clutch

Here's a quote from a guy on my thread:
"If the flywheel is "out of spec" it could lead to "clutch chatter", ripping the disc material apart or right off the backing plate, etc.
Don't take the chance!!! Just take it to a machine shop and get it resurfaced. It is only around $20 to do so..."

The install of a clutch isn't all that hard, but make sure you have...
A. Friends
B. The Right Tools
C. The Helms, or the pages relating to Tranny R&R
D. TIME!
Don't set aside 2 hours on Saturday, instead, plan on all day just to be safe.
Most important of all - follow direction explicitly.. NO shortcuts!
