Does turbo F*** up your car???
I was planning to get a turbo kit for my Integra GSR and I wanted to see if you guys knew if it does really mess up the motor in the long run or not. Like, if you have to do constant maintenance on the car a lot just because of the turbocharger. If it doesn't what is the top of the line turbo on the market? Thanks...
do your search, people usually **** their their car due to overboost or boosting with a unrebuilt motor. I beleve maintance is just expensive gas to prevent early detonation and constant check that oil is running through the turbo as the fan goes beyond 10k rpm and it can be quite painful to the touch
its a toss up. If your car is properly maintained, is in good shape (good comp etc), the kit is installed correctly with proper tuning etc, and you properly match your turboing needs (like don't install a turbo kit good for 300hp without upgrading anything else) then its a good deal. However, i get the sense that most people do one of the things i mentioned wrong.
I almost went turbo, but i have a 1995, and i ONLY wanted the Greddy kit. its the simplest and least output (but enough for me). Unfortunately, the Greddy kit is only bolt on for 96+...so i picked up a jrsc instead, now I'm waiting to install the SOB.

if you don't know **** about turbo, and just want to slap it on for the sake of "i have turbo in my gsr" then don't get it. you need proper tuning, and the funds to keep up to par. plus gsr has high compression which is not good w/ turbo.
people **** up thier cars...not mods...if the person knows what they are doing...then things will be smooth...if they dont and its done half ***...yes...it would **** up your car....
I know alot of people who blew their car up with a turbo, but it is usually because they took the easy way or cheap way out....you really got to do your homework and do it right or it will mess up quick... I'm gonna boost mine and it only has 24k miles on it.....wish me luck..
Timing and Fuel (too much or too little) is what kills a motor... The turbo don't do squat. As long as you don't hack a install (and use loc - tite) a turbo honda is almost as relable as a stocker
