Car security, what do YOU use???
I put this in the ITR forum because of the high theft rate. I did a search already & came up with a few good ones, but nothing satisfactory.
Just want an opinion/ideas of what are good options for car security.
For some more common security features, here's what I have come up with & read over the years:
1) Removable steering wheel
2) alarm with ignition cut off (or fuel cut off)
3) the club/autolock (wont work with #1
)
4) body damage/stripped interior
as stupid as it sounds, if you are hardcore enough to do it, a stripped interior won't be as appealing to thieves if you have a fancy car (i.e. FD RX-7, ITR, S2000, etc)
BUT, it could potentially draw MORE attention to your car if the thieves think you stripped your car for racing purposes (racing = fast = blingblong parts)
5) paging alarm
6) locking lugnuts (for those with blingblang rims)
7) hidden fuel cut off switch
8) removed ECU
9) lock-down for those who are lucky enough to have it (it IS called lockdown right? GPS car locator thingy)
Basically LAYERS.
I think I've covered some/most of the main ones, any others???

& you're right about thieves getting what they want if they want it bad enough, but for the not so often: "car was stolen by a flatbed" scenario, a good list (and thread dedicated to security) could help others

Better than any alarm you can buy
I hear plenty of good things about the Clifford systems with the built-in blackjax. Two buddies of mine both had Integra's one having blackjax and other not (both parked next to each other). They broke into both and stole both, but the car with blackjax ended up not getting more than a quarter mile away before the engine died.

EDIT:At this time I'm fairly certain that whomever stole my car knew what i had in the engine even though I have never posted exactly what is in my car on HT. I'm also pretty sure my car was towed and not broken into on the spot.
