Well im trying to figure out the EXACT way you are supposed to advance your timing(ignition). Ive read SOOOOO many different ways to do this but i dont know which way to do it. Some say that you have to start your car and advance it until you hear it knock...then turn it back a few degrees...then reset your ecu. Does that seem right to you? Also which way do you turn the dizzy to advance it...i think its to the firewall but im not sure? I know that this has been covered a BILLION times but the search is still disabled I hope that we get a better search engine after ll of this waiting...cuz the old one just sucks ***. Thanks

i dunno how to do it really, but how are you gunna move a cam gear moving at 350-750 rpms?

 

he is talking about timing by the dizzy.advancing is towards the firewall.

 

when you advance and retard your timing you can hear the motor.. when the motor sounds like it speeds up then your advancing .. when you hear it slow down your retarding . its a real faint sound so you have to listen carefully. good luck

 

get a timing gun.. loosen the bolts, put a jumper wire in the connector located behind the passengers kick panel, set the timing to whatever you want and tighten the bolts
looking directly at the distributor, counterclockwise is to advance
