short shifter
I would say just get a GSR or Type R shifter. Most people say that short shifters mess up trannies and you have a greater chance missing second and third. I have had about 6 short shifters. 2 Dc Sports, 1 B&m, 1 Skunk2, and 2 off brands. one of the dc sport shifters broke in half on the way to the races, and one of the off brands broke. But they all have troubles getting into second or third while racing.
a good friend of mines told me to turn the stock shifter backwards and it'll work better than anything else on the market.
he has a sohc turbo on his 150$ crx(i sold the crx to him)

How is turning the stock shifter backwards going to make a difference? Also, short shifters don't mess up your tranny, the driver does. My brother has the B&M SS and he has never missed a gear since the install.

ALL short shifters work the same, they lengthen the part underneath the pivot point. It doesn't matter what brand you get, they all work the same. So get an off brand, so much cheaper. Some people break them, but so what, some people break stock shifters.

there is no reason that any of them would ever break unless you shift like a madman...not slamming into gear is just as fast, if not faster, as slamming if youo know how to shift. btw ebay ss is good for me

my buddy has a B&M and 1st through 4 gear are cool, but 5th and reverse are like 3 feet away... i just ordered my skunk2, and i will tell you what i think when i get it in....
i have the cheapest short shifter i could find .. its a matrix .. i got it for 40 bucks from the store and i have it for about 5 years .. works great .. however i cut the top off some more so it would sit lower in the boot. but i never had any problems with it and it shifts smooth.
when you cut the ss how did you get your shift **** back on?? did you re-thread it?? well any way yea i've heard of people breaking the off brand ones... how kan you do that?? you must have mad arms for that.
I would recommend getting a B&M because a buddy of mine was driving out to the drags one day and a punkass in a civic pulled up next to him. The kid threw it into 3rd prolly, and my buddy was like **** that and threw it into 2nd, and broke the ******' **** right off the short shifter. We both looked at each other like ".....WTF?......." I've never had a shifter do that to me in all my driving experience so i would stay away from the no-name brands.

I broke my STR short shifter. Bought a Skunk2 shifter and had major problems shifting into 4th at the strip, it would go into 4th fine during normal driving, but jsut sucked drag racing. I then bought a GSR shifter and modified it to work with the D series linkage and it works great.
I agree that the Skunk2 works very well. I have the shifter and **** in my 88 crx. The length and throw are very comfortable and the additional mass smooths things out and dampens vibration.
Ive bought ebay ss and i was using it for a 5 months. Now its broken in half
Till then it was working fine
btw: any way to fix broken ss? i kinda dont wanna wait next 4 weeks for a new one
