I am using my partners account again. Maybe someone can tell me whats wrong. I made a pass on the Nitrus and when the car hit 8000 Rpm it made a weird noise. We checked the spark plugs and the # 2 and 4 spark plugs were completely melted. I have now put in 4 new plugs and the car sounds like a truck and I must keep my foot on the gas at all times because the car will not idle it will just stall. There is no smoke coming out the back tail pipe. The engine light is flashing rapidly and I have to press the gas pedal down hard to get the car to barely move. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong please help

I think #2 and #4 pistons and/or valves are gone now. Running too lean with nitrous?

 

The dyno did not have the o2 sensor hooked up to your car, to make sure it was not running lean?

 

If you vaporized spark plugs, you probably melted the tops of your pistons also. Sounds like some big time pre-detonation......and a rebuild. Oh well, that just means you can get some nicer aftermarket pistons.

You should be running some kind of safeguard like the J&S to prevent detonation.

DOH!!! Why don't you trip the MIL and see what codes you are getting. I bet that will point you in the right direction............

 

Sounds like pistons #2 and #4 are munched. Time to rebuild. Get some JE 10.5 to 1's, and a set of Crower rods. Best wishes!

Running it may have caused even more problems. Better hope your block is still okay.

I hate nitrous, but I'll admit, I'm a road racer and auto-x guy. Personally I think nitrous is for idiots.

Sounds like you melted something more than the spark plugs. I'm surprised the motor still runs! OMG, Why did you run nitrous on a dyno?? Bad idea.

Anyways don't run your motor again until the head can be checked.

I am not Pro or against N20, but for you to have such harsh feelings...some Neon must have sprayed you and left you smelling his clutch and rubber.

 

12.6's on the bottle. Im a fan. Why would you say not to run nitrous on a dyno? How else are you going to tune it?
