Well, to start with my windshield had a cracked on the driverside probably 5-6 inches. It's just a normal cracked not a spider web crack, if you know what I mean. So last night it rained pretty bad and the temps surge down to 30's. I woked up this morning and to my surprised the cracked grew bigger! I was like WTF! It adds 24+ inches of cracked across my windshield.

Now my q. Can i drive the car like that for another week, since I have to wait for my check and get my windshield fix? I'm kinda worried it might shattered. Also, anybody here got thier windshield fix? If so how much they charge you or quoted your for a new windshield?

im not sure about where you live, but in FL the insurance company has to replace the windshield for you... ask your insurance company about this

 

call around and tell them you don't have ins and have to pay for it yourself and just tell them "the place down the street will do it for 200 ... then call someone else and say they said they would do it for 175" until you get as low as you can. i know stock crx windshields cost around 300 w/out replacing the molding, just using the existing moulding.

 

go through your insurance if you have that coverage. otherwise its gonna cost around $175 to get it done (i've had to pay 2 times to get mine done...)

 

i bought my rex with a crack all the way along the bottom of the windshield. i waited a few months then told insurance it happened when i came back to my car one night in a parking lot. they covered it and i didnt pay a penny (except through my outrageously high premium every month )

 

careful where you take it. i had a new windsheild put in my 87 crx before and they got the old one out and said it was rusty...so they charged me extra to rustproof it. i dont know what the hell they did...but it got so damn rusty within the year, and you couldnt tell there was any rust before that.

but i cant remember how much it cost...i know it was over $100. (put it in like 5 yrs ago) call around. some *** had a huge chunk of ice fly off his minivan and crushed my windsheild....and his insurance said it wasnt his fault and wouldnt give me any money. i could have got it if i hired a lawyer...but that would have cost more than the glass. bastards!

 

I think its $100 flat fee or something and insurance covers the rest.

 

On my EG I had a crack in the windshield for 2 years.. more than half the windshield...

 

Mine was $95 installed and I have had two winsheilds replaced at that price..and if you want the tint at the top make sure you ask for it..

 

ok, well i guess i will drive to california next time i need my windshield replaced !! thats $200 savings !

 

it all depends on your plan and if you have glass coverage or not. this is a different category than body work, etc.

 

Frederick MD, 21702 (Dimond Window) Off of east street. They came to where my car was, which was about 15 Miles from their shop, and put the window in and charged me $130.00. They said that they would come to my work and fix it in the parking lot, I just did not want to drive so left it where it was.

It was put into a CR-X 1988 HF and they even replaced the molding.

South bay Auto...go to the junk yards in CHula vista off Nirvana by Coors ampitheatre the one on the bottom of the hill not up top...

when you drive in you can go left or right, Right goes to Ecology and Hap, and Pick your pats..

Go straight, into the South Bay Junk yard and on the side is a Window repair place..they have always been cheaper then any one else..in that area..

 

I had the same situation with my windshield, and I took it to the local auto glass place, $210US installed, and that was with the new black trim pieces. I thought about doing it through the insurance company, but having a claim on my insurance was not worth the possible increase in my premiums. Besides, the original glass was getting pitted, and the new one is invisible...

 

hey, not to bust your bubble or anything but yea. My **** was wasted like beaten with a bat. my dude came out took all the old glass and every thing out and hooked me up for 120$$ and he drove out to my pad. there was no way i could drive it there. Well mabee if i stuck my head out the window lol lol. but yea i seen guy up there saying check around alot. MAKE SURE YOU DO!!!! i was checking for mine this jackass tols me 500$ to come out and do it. lol i lol at him and said fuckyou i bought the hole car for 500$ moron and hung up. nother thing to look out for is cheap installs you don't wana spring a leak!!!! Good LUCK BRO i hope you can find a good price. mabee cuss i am cali. mabee it cheaper here but i don't know.

 

o and to the ?? about it shattering lol no way they got some bomb *** safty glass you will be ok trust me. i beat my car with 40 pound weights and a bat. the **** did not cave in. for reall i was amassed and at the same time pissed!!!! lol lol
