Broken Windshield.. How do I replace it?
My windshield has a lot of cracks on it, and I just got a big one last week. I tried fixing it with one of those kits, but it still looks bad. I'm now thinking of just replacing the entire thing, but is that something I should even try myself? Or if not, who can do it for me without charging me dealer prices? How much money am I looking at here? Thanks in advance.
I've had it done twice.. look in the phone book under auto glass. they come to your house and do it if u want.. it runs like 150-200 i think
call your insurance company and they will pay to have it replaced it for free. or at least that's how it is in florida. its illigal to have a cracked windshield or something like that.
it's not that easy to replace.....get it done outside at the shop. Call around your local glass and windshield shops. The price will vary from $150-$400.....

if you wanna drive up to Pomona, there's this place that quoted me around $100 for a new aftermarket windshield installed... too bad I found that out after going to a junkyard and buying what I thought was a used OEM windshield and having them install it for $50.

not worth the hassle of insurance since deductable is usually $500.
phonebook & just call around. they all price match. should run $200 installed at your place (they will drive to where you are and do it on the spot).

my insurance deductable is also $500, but for a windshield, in va, you only have to pay $50 and they pay the rest of the windshield fee.
In Florida you can't be charged a deductable for replacing the windshield, it's the law... however they only have to replace it if you have comprehensive.
This may sound dumb..But i think i might repalce my windshield...
Aftermarkey ones just as good as oem?
My windshiled has alot of chips in it, not big but enough to scatter light and glare.
also the owner before me didnt realize your not supose to use the winshield wipers unless the window is wet....doh!
so it has bad drag/scratch marks in it
I already have night vision problems with the other cars blinding me...no problems in my moms new pathfinder...nice clear winshield..
seems to be all the scratches in mine make it harder to see.
So what do you all think..200 for safty and ease of driving worth it?

Okay, I guess DIY isn't for me haha, thanks everyone. I can't do it through my insurance though.. I have a cheesy insurance company and they don't cover anything.
Hey bunmango, where in Pomona quoted you $100 installed?
Thanks all!
