Thinking of spray painting parts of my car
Car is old, so even Maaco's $500 quote is out of the question. The rock chips on the bumper and the chipped clear coat on the roof is too much of an eye sore. I figure a crappy layer of black paint is better than what it is now. I've practiced on an old hood and it turned out okay, but I don't know how well it will hold up as time goes by.
Anyone have any personal experience on why I should or shouldn't do this?

overspray will be everywhere, and labor is a LOT of work to prep the car. $500 is actually pretty cheap for a paint job if you don't want to deal with the mess.

just pay the 500 and get it done right. don't waste ur time on it, if you barely know how do it, unless ur into that stuff. if it is that old, and you can even put 500 on the car, then leave it the way it is.
Spray paint doesn't look good. My brother bought a corolla which had its bumpers and trim spray painted black and it looks like crap. It is peeling and the texture is rough. I recommend a shop done paint job even if its cheap.
