its not for me.

however, i did suggest the b16b to him.

why? he was going to get a b18c5, put in CTR cams, and CTR pistons. the cheapest price we could find a 99 b18c5 was almost 5 grand.

but, we found a 2000 b16b for 3700. that is more than a 2 grand difference, + 300 for the pistons, + 300 for the cams. now we are up to around 3 grand extra for the b18c5.

so the way i figure it, buy the b16b, and put in b18 crank and rods. problem solved.

For wiring you're just gonna be reworking your Civic's wiring harness, for Mounts all you need is a 99-2000 Si rear motor mount bracket only if you're motor happens to not come with it... It should come will all mounts so you shouldn't have to worry about that... Otherwise there is no difference with a RHD motor... Little things you may notice would be the throttle cable if it happens to come with it... I kinda gotta agree with JDM IS RICE.... I would just go with a B18C... Whether it's the USDM B18C1/C5/or JDM CR... The B18CR normally runs about the same as the B18B and difference in output is a lot... VERY NOTICABLE... A stock B18C1 EK will work a B16B EK anyday... Just my $0.02... Peace

Damn man, you beat me... hehe Oh well, that's good to know... By the way why is the CTR motor so cheap??? But that's the other thing I was originally gonna say, except the B18CR motor is pretty close so I just said screw it.... Drop a B18C crank, rods, and PCT slugs into that B16B block and you'll be set... Good Luck

Yea I guess you're right there.... I'm glad that you didn't go through HMO... My friend's and I have had many problems with their motors... Sent cracked blocks, thrust washers falling out, etc... Oh well, just toss the 1.8L **** in that B16B casing and you'll be set.... Latez

There is no rewiring, just get a 99-00 Si wiring harness and it'll plug right in.

The only problem that you might have is the ecu. Depending on what year motor you get, you may need to get a jumper.

Well, if you plan on smogging it, the easiest ECU would be a 99-00 B16 ECU.

But most people ditch those soon after. I'm not sure how well that motor will smog though, being that it's JDM.

you can smog JDM motors as long as they have USDM manifolds and catalytic converter, and a USDM ecu.

and would a b16a ECU perform any worse than the b16b peice?

it doesn't pass inspection.

you have to go to a california state ref, have them check out everything, actually smog the car, then give you a sticker showing that you did everything right, and then you can smog the car at any 76 station on a street corner.

Do what Fowler said. Also, you know you can unplug ecu's. Just the p2t ecu for smog and put in the pct ecu any other time.
