hey guys, i just got one of those auto meter moster gauges, without the large shift lght, and it comes with the shift pointe instead. I am lookin at the wires off th back and there are 2 loped wires that come out and loop bacin...there are an orange wire and a brown wire...i pulled the back off and they loop off the circuit board and then back into it on a different point. Does anyone know whether thes are the exteral tach wires, there in case someone wanted to instal an exteral tach....help??

 

It should tell u in the instuctions, but I'm assuming u don't have them handy, anyhow I jus put one in on my civic last week, the brown and orange wire are to be cut and insulated with electrical tape, do not keep them connected, these wires must be cut in order for the tach to function properly on a 4 cyl. So jus take a pair of wire cutters and cut the orange and brown loop and cover the ends with electrical tape and ur good to go!!

well ur right...i dont have the instructions hndy, but the oher part of my question was wheter or not I could connect an external shift light to this tach. it has that tiny little shift ligt on the tach itself but thats gay...i have the big auto meter shift light from my previous tach, but is it possible to connect the light to my new ach...if so,. how...

I'm not to sure about that, I'm assuming u can't cause my autometer has a plug for the large shift light, but it also doesn't have one on the tach itself. Sorry can't really help u there. Good Luck
