Timing Q
All of this pertains to a d16a6
Is there a way to check the crank position without opening up the engine (marks...). My car died recently on the HW and all I had was a small tool box. I thought it was the timing belt slipping, so I slipped it off and played with the timing. I put it back on in the general vicinity and found the problem (exploded rotor). The car ran fine on the way home, but I'm a little worried that the cam timing is off. I have an adj. cam gear but I would still like it back to the original settings.
Thanks in advance.

There is a set of three timing marks on the crank pulley for use with a timing light. Straight up to the pointers is 18 deg. BTDC #1. I can double check with the valve cover off. I was daydreaming about the car work I have to do this weekend. I ended up finding it in my haynes, but H-T is always the easy way out.
