Finished swap, car will not start.
Just finished a b16a swap in a crx si and car will not start. It does not crank or turn over when trying to start car. What could it be?
Thanks...

OK, how many grounds should there be I checked the ground from the negative terminal and that goes to the clutch cable bracket, checked the valve cover one, also the VTEC one that goes to thermostat housing. Everything seems fine. Am I missing anything else? Thanks for your help.
cover your tracks...make sure your battery has voltage and then check your starter, make sure it is hooked up properly...to turn the car over, you only need a good battery, starter and ignition switch!
I'm getting voltage from the battery lights all work, radio, etc. The cables hooked up to the starter all look fine and in the right place. You think its the starter itself? I turn the key get the lights inside the cluster, not getting any codes from the ECU. turn it to II and hear the fuel, but when I turn to start NOTHING at all. Im starting to think i have a bad starter, how do I check the starter? Thanks.

sounds like no compression, spray some wd40 into your spark plug holes, and let it soak in there for a couple of hrs or even a day, so it can give the pistons some type of enthusiasm. hehe... try to crank it after that, also try manually turning ur crank..just happend to me when i did an accord engine replacement, the motor i bought had been sitting for about 2 yrs outside,

or you could check it yourself...just unbolt the starter and get two wires...connecet the wires to the battery ie- speaker wires, etc. connect it to the starter...highly recomend that you put the starter on the ground and use ur foot to hold it. lol, then just connect it and see it spins. hope that helped. save u some money too. peace,B
It could be a few things. You can try to diagnose the problem yourself VERY easily... Pay attention to the dash lights (engine light, oil light, etc) when turning the key. If the lights dim and turn off when you switch the key back to II, then its your ignition switch. If you turn the key, and the lights stay on.. check your clutch switch. This is both assuming that you hear NO sound when turning the key. Meaning not ONE click from the starter solenoid.
Check the wires connected to the starter. You can try to tap the starter a few times and see if that works. If you hear a click inside the engine bay.. check the starter, the grounds, and the battery.

is your main harness grounded to the thermo housing??? its 2 ring connectors. Also check for continunity from you block to any where on the chassis and make sure you are gounded. Your motor isn't locked/seized up is it. Turn the crank a few times by hand and see if its too hard for the starter to turn I had this problem b4 so that why I've givin you this info
Aight update, I just checked the starter out and its fine. I am going to start checking for everything else you guys mentioned and possible ground problems, thanks for all the help, really appreciate it. H-T
Check the wire going to the starter. Starter signal wire. Check it with a test light and see if it lights up at all when you try to start it. The wire could be bad if it is really corroded. And also check to see if your power wire to the starter is solid.
And if you have someone to help push the car and some room... you can try to push start it to see if it runs, then you know it is a problem with the starter connections.

OK it was the main relay under the clutch pedal
The starter is working when I turn on the ignition now but now its not cranking or turning over. The starter problem is eliminated now to get it crankin. Now all Im hearing is the starter. Im getting sparks from the spark plugs. Oh what could it be? hmmm???

I'm having the same problem with the starter with my mini me swap. I can push start the car and get it running fine but when I turn on my turn signal, or step on the brakes, or turn on any accessory on the car the Tach zeros out and the temp needle pegs up. When i turn off the accessory everything goes back to normal??? I'm gonna check that main relay.. is there anything else i should do besides what everyone has posted??
Thanks
Thanks
Make sure that you have good grounds. The negitive battery cable runs to the passenger side frame rail then to the transmission. Make sure those connections are good without corrosion.
Make sure the ground to your head is good.
Add extra grounds if needed. I ran some old monster cable with rings connected to the ends and attached it to the head in a couple of places and to the intake manifold.
