safe boost on a stock b16 and what is the best b series tranny?
Safe level of boost is dictated on what type of engine management you are running, but probably with something like zdyne/hondata, and even a afc hack with larger injectors tuned correctly (with a btm) probably 10-12psi max.. I am sure some people have boosted higher.
best tranny for 1/4 mile is shorter gears.. so that would be the jdm j1 even the jdm s1 and y1 have really tight gears. Just stay away from the gay *** LS trannys, people are going to tell you they are better for boost, when they are really shitty. Longer gears for boost do nothing, but put more load on your engine, and make you fall out of your power band each time you shift.
Just read through the posts on the FI board, all the fast guys running 10-9 sec passes are using GSR/B16 gear sets with sometimes a LS final.
