Default Just Wondering????

Why is the JDM Integra Type R so much better than the USDM Type R. Why is their so much difference between the two? Its like our cars are totally different to the Japs. They got a different front end, more powerful engine, xenon lights, RECARO seats, etc. I think I kind of figured it out. Since the import scene in America is getting bigger and bigger each year; this year being the biggest with over a $300 million market, I think that the Japs are taking advantage of the perfect opportunity. Since the majority of R owners, or even all, want the JDM goodies, the Japanese made the US R shittier so that are fantasies of a larger collector header, higher compression pistons, Recaro's, etc., can put a fat profit in the Japanese market. So technically our R is not an R until we put all the JDM goodies to be up in par with the Japanese Spec. R. Catch my drift? Oh, by the way, what are the horsepower and torque specs of the JDM Type R.

horsepower is 210ps which is like 207hp. Don't remember the torque though.

I believe they are 197 hp (200 ps) and 133 lbs ft of torque for the '96 spec JDM ITR - the one we get here in American.

You should be thankful the decided to sell a type R in the states at all. Our car is not that far behind the JDM type R, and if it were identical you could be assured of a $30K price or more, and few people would buy it.

Thanks for the numbers, but my question is why is the JDM so much different and better than the US R?

200ps, I have heard this 210ps being quoted a lot and dont know where people get this idea from. Importunter didn't you use to post on clubsi.com. By the way the only 'jdm' part I want is the Recaros and exhaust manifold and maybe the final drive, I could give a **** about the front end I like the US style better anyways.

Thanks for the replies, but RO476, I've never heard of that site; hence never posted on it. Sorry, I despise Civic Si's because that engine has been in use since the late 80's. It was Japan's first VTEC engine placed in a JDM Civic or CRX, whatever it was. That engine has been in the delSol for crying out loud. I don't see what the big hype about the SI's are besides the cool Electron Blue Paint. I'm usually on this board, Superhonda, Acura-CL, and Honda-Acura.net.
