vtec activation in swap????
damn i feel like i'm blacklisted no one can answer any of my posts...
well i've had this problem for a while but now am actually trying to do something about it...
i can't hit vtec in my b18c swap conistantly, it will activate once then my check engine light pops on and the only way for me to do it again is to turn off my car. So what is everyone doing to get vtec to kick in your DOHC VTEC swaps????
i was told it was because i still have a cable driven speedo and need to convert to electronic VSS, well i tried hooking everything up doing the GSR cluster install but something is f----ed up cause i can't get anything to work on my cluster...
SO HOW ELSE CAN I GET MY VTEC TO ACTIVATE???

You don't have to go with the electric vss. You can take the shaft with the gear out of the electrical vss and then unpress the gear off it. Then unpress the gear off of the cable driven vss shaft. Then just press the electrical vss gear onto the cable driven gear shaft.... get it, got it, good.
ok i get exactly what you are saying however i don't see how thats going to get my vtec to activate properly? ...wait now that i think about i am a complete ***, this whole time i thought vtec wasn't working right because i wasn't using an electronic VSS that was supposd to go with my GSR engine to send the signal to the ecu...well the Speed Sensor is only for speed not rpm, and vtec activates in accordance with rpm....crap it seems that i tore apart my dash and have been stressing over something i don't need to do......so do you have any other ideas on how to fix my vtec problem or should i just swap the gears on the speed sensors???
if you don't have anything that is connected to your cluster that would throw a code then you'll be stuck in lint mode or if your cluster is not hooked up properly your VTEC will not engage
damn i couldn't even tell you what code i'm throwing right now because i'm in the middle of a GSR gauge cluster swap that has gone to hell so nothing is lighting up...please clarify on....

For VTEC to initiate your going to need the VSS and oil pressure sensor. Make sure both of the connections are in place. I don't believe it has to be electronic, just as long as you have the VSS. If your using cable make sure the metal piece(spline) at the end of the cable is spinning and engaging with your vss and check that your VSS gear is spinning and have contact with the piece in the tranny.
