Has your oil light ever come on -- does it work?
I've seen several posts where people are 1-2 quarts low on oil, and the light never comes on. Has anyone ever seen a oil light come on?

I have never seen my oil light in all four of my intergras. I have never had the common problem with burning any oil earither (i dont think) knock on wood.
mine has come on before. Its wierd. When the light was on VTEC engaged no problem(in case you dont know VTEC is a function of oil pressure so lack of oil means lack of VTEC) but other times the light wasnt on and I lost VTEC.
But now that its warm again, I will be changing every 3000 anyways

The oil light comes on if your oil pressure drops to 5 Psi or less, which kinda means that if you ever see it you are already screwed.

Was racing a turbo 3000 GT and right when I hit boost the light poped on, turn the car off and rolled into a gas station. Some how I blew my oil pan gasket. Motor as fine

never from low oil, but there are 2 cases when you see the light come on regularly.
when you first start the car, it goes through and does a bulb check and the oil light is lit for a few seconds.
the only other time I've seen it work is after an oil change. at start up the oil pressure has not built up sufficiently to trip the switch. then after 5-10 seconds it goes out. shows me that it's working.
not sure if this is what you're asking.

If you oil is low enough to cause the light to come on you are pretty screwed because that means it is VERY low indeed. You should check it via the dipstick regularly, particularly if you are driving it hard.
I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge tapped off the VTEC oil gallery on the head. I notice that when the oil level starts to get low the needle will get 'jumpy' and the pressure at idle will drop slightly. I attribute this to the pickup starting to become exposed and sucking up air bubbles. This is my clue that I need to top her off and it happens WAYYYY before the oil light ever comes on.
