Default VAFC/CEL question

car: 98 dx hatch
motor: b16a SiRI w/ cable tranny -JUN chipped p28w/ VAFC(stock settings)

Question: With VAFC unplugged i throw codes 3(MAP sensor) and 21(vtec solenoid). With it plugged in- no codes. So, if i leave the VAFC unplugged = no vtec. The VAFC is turning on vtec but i don't know if because of the codes if my fuel/timing maps are being modified accordingly. Is that even possible? Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix my CEL's? Thanks guys

that is normal for the car to throw those codes when the vafc isn not plugged in.. you interupt certain wires during the install and unplugging it make a CEL come on.. so what is your question really?? how to fix the CEL is leave the vafc plugged in

the vtec wire is cut off and from the ecu when you install the vafc and the map is run through the vafc and back into the ecu..

Your a jackass....not to be mean, but obviously u didnt install it or ud know why u throw codes. Further more, my car wont even start when mine is unplugged, so something may not be hooked up on yours. Its a great anti theft device.

Yeah dude, ever notice that you had to cut a couple of wires and run both sides into the VAFC? Those two wires are the VTEC sol. wire and the MAP sensor wire. Also, the VTEC pressure sensor goes directly into the VAFC instead of the pressure sensor. That's why you're throwing codes when you unplug it.

If you want to be able to remove it easily and still be able to drive your car you need to rig up some connectors so you can complete the connection for those wires even when the VAFC is unplugged.
