Differences between JDM ITR (RHD) and USDM ITR and things to look out for.
Whats up guys.
Looks Like I have finally got an opportunity to get my hands on an ITR. However, the car is a JDM RHD ITR.. are than any key differences or things I should be concerned about if I do follow through and purchase the car. (it is RHD btw.)
I would like some insight on getting in ahem "ceritified" here in the US, anyone w/experience or knowledge on this would be extremely helpful...
anything else I should look out for would be helpful as well. ie...aquiring replacement parts, model differences etc.
You guys get the idea right??
Some background on the car.
1997 Honda Integra Type R, $14k USD
- 30,400 km (19k miles)
- 3.5/5 condition (5 is a brand new car, 4 is a perfect used car)
- 1.8L DOHC VTEC, 5-Speed LSD Trans
- AC, PS, PW, PL
- Championship White
- Factory Black Recaro SR2 Seats
- Lowered on ???
- 15" White Advan RG Wheels
- Aftermarket Momo Steering Wheel
does that rear 1/4panel look a lil different in color to you guys??
yes, it is RHD notice the writing on the windshield is backwords along w/the tach.
here is the link for the car...it is for sale on H-T through a friend of mine.

I'm not quite sure I follow you.
The 2nd picture has the driver sitting on the left side of the car, thus making it LHD.
I'd point you to some threads about certifying/legalizing cars from overseas, but the archived search is currently disabled

the pics are reversed, the numbers on the tach give it away.
Yellow Blur is right, I didn't examine the picture very well. It is backwards, everything is backwards. Look at the climate control and the numbers on the tach.

96 spec (96-97) was 4-lug.
Im assuming what you are saying is JDM ITRS from 96-97 was 4 lug..not 5 right??
anyone else w/insight.
Do you have any friends that are car dealers? If so beg, beg, beg, them to give you dealer plates to ride on. You'll never have to make it legit if you do. While this isn't a great idea if ur a jackass driver, if you can control yourself on the street it could work. According to law though i think you'll have to change plates every now and then...
yes. but dealers get REALLY good insurance rates, I'm sure if you offered to pay them, they might let you do it. But you can mod it all you want, you'll never have to meet emissions standards, never need to VIN it, etc...all the hassels removed..
if the seller has flipped the image in an effort to trick a buyer, I would wonder what else the seller is hiding.
Keep looking to see if you can find a better one. I have seen many JDM ITRs for 9k-10k usd
btw its wary not weary.
weary means you are tired

point taken..However, I know the guy. he is an honest seller.
Along w/that he hasn't even seen the car in person yet...The only thing Im really worried about is the color of that damn rear fender, and why is it being imported here in the first place?

The colors are probably fine, the lighting looks bad and that camera obviously sucked so you can't really get a good idea of what it really looks like. My car looks all strange sometimes if I take a picture with certain lighting, cameras are strange things. Just see it for yourself.
i agree with surfer
the paint does look kinda strange, it lookes to be very white in the foreground and get duller/yellower towards the back ground....on the first pic the front is very white and seems to change but on the second pic the rear looks very white and seems to change....cameras do strange things in uncontrolled settings like this. photo shoots are different with a million bright *** lights on hte car......i would just wait and see it in person....as long as you got first dibs if you like what you see!!!! check for tape lines, runs, flaws in the paint.....if you know anyone that does body work give em $20 to look it over thoroughly (sp?) anyways if its fucked just get your guy to import another or something else skyline maybe???? he obviously has a good hook up in japan!!!! the reason a lot of cars are imported with pretty low miles that are only a few years old has to do with the way they are taxed in japan. i think if your vehicle is more that 3 or 4 years old the taxes get higher as the car ages so a lot of people just buy a new car every 3-4 years...atleast thats what i hear....good luck!
oh yeah you get some sick *** advans with the car too!!

Thanks for the input guys...
The other concern of mine...are any parts different between USDM and JDM??
For example..Would flywheels, clutches, cams, suspension parts etc. work w/aftermarket USDM parts?? can anyone verify this?
