Default What the heck? Has this happened to you.

Ok i was on the wya home from work and about to turn intot he gas station to get a drink. Well as i was making a turn, something dropped from under my car and statted dragging, and it was like there was NO gears, the shifter would move freely, like the shiftlinkage was on the shifter but not connected to the tranny. Well i stopped and got my friend to come where i was and we jacked up the car and founf that, it looked likr a "shift linkage stabilizer?" a silver rod with a circle on the end of it had fallen off of this little rubber donut, so we slipped it back on so i could get home, then we flipped the rubber piece around so i had a wall on the outside to prevent it from falling off again. Does anyone know what i mean? Well why did this happen, does the rubber just wear over time or what?

Also a few days ago my SRS light came on, and i dont knwo why, i dont think i did anything to make it turn on, but what could i have done to make it turn on, it turns on with the car and then stays on, what do i do?

Thanks.

There is suposed to be a nut at the end of the silver rod. It minght have fallen off.
Have you put on a short shifter?

What year is your car? The dealership will fix your airbag problems.

Yeah the nut is on there. Alright you know how the rubber thing has the groove in the middle and the 2 rubber side walls? Well like on of the walls is gone. like it was just torn off.

What do they do at the dealership, can i do it?

I wouldn't mess with the SRS if I were you. If shiet happened, they can say that you tampered with it and won't pay you. Besides, you won't have the tools to fix it anyway. It's better to bring it to the dealership. Anything safety related is free.

If I remember correctly, it's free because it's matter of life and death. Anything safety related is free. The dealers get honda to pay for the parts and labor. I could be wrong. Anyone works for Honda?

Not for Honda, but a dealership none the same. The only way anything on his car would still be free is if Honda issued a recall for something safety related. He will need to prolly pay a diag charge so they can hook it up to the scanner.

Tip for original poster. Does the horn work? If not chances are its the clockspring (reel). If the horn works then who knows. Either way, take it to the dealer.
