i was just driving normal and the timing belt just snapped. how much is a new one and which one should i get. i have lsvtec

 

you need to inspect the enging

usually when a timing belt goes
so does the motor.

 

I love how people ask for help after the t-belt breaks, but not before (so that they would know how and when to change it).

Put a new belt on and see how it runs. You may get lucky and the motor might be fine. Worst case is usually some bent valves in the head.....

 

what kind of belt were you using??

 

If you are using a vtec water pump, use the gsr belt. If it is still the ls water pump, use the ls belt.

 

if you were driving at the time it broke you probably got some bent valves in the head!

 

Yank the head and look for damaged valves, they either seat or they don`t, there`s only one way to find out...

 

yep, like eveyone said...take off the head and check the valves....have fun

 

before you do that, replace the belt and check compression. you may get lucky you may not.

 

 

i was using a ls one like a dumbass, but i can't do anything about it now. i planned on ording a knew one today i was thinking a typr r one but if there are any better suggestions please help

 

I believe it's like Jackson said, "If you are using a vtec water pump, use the gsr belt. If it is still the ls water pump, use the ls belt." If you still are using the LS water pump I think you need to use an LS belt.
