Question about getting a exhaust for my Ef.......
Ok my question is....... What are the pro's and cons of getting a resonator?
Here is what my Exhaust will consist of, i am going all cheap materials cause i plan on turboing the car and once its turboed i am running open downpipe.
- 2 1/4" inch piping from muffler shop
- i am purchasing this cat ---> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=33629
- I am purchasing this muffler ---> http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat
My main consern is i dont want that loud raspy chainsaw sound, i want nice quiet deep sound.... Will i need a resonator?
I replaced my cat with a resonator and it sounds loud, like a chainsaw. I hate it but it's all I can do with my budget, but I can't imagine what it'd be like withou at resonator, so yes, I would get one.
Check the link in my sig about d series power to get a taste of what mine is like.
2.25inch piping, no cat (replaced with resonator), and ebay fart pipe. Ghetto? Yes. Loud? Yes. Cheap? Hell yes
Get a resonator.

cool vid...your exhaust sounds pretty good from the inside...not bad considering you have a rice can
Hahha, thanks. Not bad at all for 70 bucks, hhaha. But something new and quieter is on the way.

as far as your questions. I do custom mandrel bent exhaust, and i can answer this!
Resonator has many pro's and con's
-They do help bypass a cat, so thats good if you want to get pass that restrictive
cat
-They do lower sound a good bit and allow you to have a bit closer to a "stock"
sound
-They do restrict air flow, thats how they keep the sound down, you may save "ear" but youll lose a tad bit of performance, worth it? thats up to your car's goals
- They will most for sure help you with the cops and local "refs"
here is a picture of the inside of the one we sell with our custom systems.
i would skip that "cat" from ebay and get one that its hi flow from http://www.discountconverter.com
they gave a great one.... its model 6905 when u into universal cats... its the one that fits out car like a glove... they searched it when i called them...
i wanted that "cat" from ebay too bc it was stainles.... but its more like a resonator... check the reviews on it and email people that has gotten it.. ull see

well, my tanabe catback has freagin 2 resonators on it....one right after my test pipe...and one right before the muffler can. Nice and quiet when cruising but deep and loud when you gun it. So, if your budget aloows it...try 2 resonators if you want a smoother tone at cruising speed i guess.
