Default D15B8

Boosting that engine is what my friend at work told me today...he said, instead of buying a B18 engine, i should just replace the head on my 93 civic cx 5 speed, and change it with all the proper parts to make twin cam or something like that.

And, put a jrs after all so, it has a big boost!!!

Can this be done and if it is possible, would it cost more to do all of that than buying a gsr engine usdm or jdm and put a jrs in it??

Thanks for your input...

you cant put a DOHC head on it. You can make a mini-me and put a SOHC VTEC head on it.

I am in the same boat. I also have a very slow cx and the mini-me swap crossed my mind. But even after that I would still be stuck with the looooong legged tranny. I dont really know what kind of power to expect out of the mini-me swap, but can the d15b8 bottom end handle it?

So now im thinking swap.

nope it cant. i would just find a complete d16y8, or d16z6, well just ecu tranny, and longblock, and around 600-900 bucks. depending on miles and condtion and then boost that engine can handle around 6-7 psi, with stock internals and fuel system.

i think some people are around 9 psi, but have upgraded pump and injectors but stock internals.

The d15b8 should be able to handle it. You may have a higher compression ratio though. If all you are doing is a z6/y8 head, you'll be fine, but boost.......... = kaboom! You would still be stuck with the tall geared tranny. You could get a jdm d15b sohc vtec swap w/ s20 tranny for like $500-$700. If you're lucky, some are equiped w/ factory lsd. You could also swap the 3rd gear in your cx for the 4th in the s20 to shorten it up.
