Default meeting of the minds, who can put FI on anything

This is way out in left field but here goes. Around where i live we have alot of fairs and carnivals and most are held in little farming towns that have strange events like lawn tractors pulls (yes like real tractor pulling but with lawn tractors). Well after seeing all these mullet totting rednecks do this for years im wondering if i can do one better on them and i came up an idea. I already scored a 12 hp MTD from a friend and i have a t25 laying around.

Here is the question, the tractors current fuel setup includes a gravity fed system and obviously is carburated. I can see this being a problem if it turbocharge it by not allowing fuel because it will be blown into the tank. How can i get around this and not be crazy rich if i just throw a fuel pump in

I really dont want to shell out much cash but i want it to win. It dont have to be reliable it just has to make some power and pull a sled a few times.

BTW

put the turbo between the carb and the engine. draw through design. that sounds like fun. t25 is tooooo big i am guessing it wont spool.

how about a tiny wet shot of nitrous might be a bit easier to get setup.

I was wondering the same thing! I am making a shifter cart out of a 400 cc 2 stroke dirt bike engine

Are you sure a Turbo would work on a 2 strok engine?

Because the intake side is open the same time the exhaust is, I don't see it working. The "boost" would just flow straight through the engine....

your biggest problem is going to be an oil supply, better off using a small squeeze of nitrous

Two things,
1) I never thought about the 2-stroke issue, that is a good point and I would be interested to see how that would work.
2) Draw through set-ups suck a fat one, unless it is just for drag racing, which this is, sooooo.........draw through sucks though.

Oh yeah, from what I understand there are several ways you can increase the fuel with a carburator. One is to use an extra injector of some sort some where in the intake manifold, that is boost controlled. Another is to design some sort of "power valve" that is boost controlled. And a third that comes to mind is to install a solenoid that is boost controlled that controls...well, an injector I guess. Okay so I mixed number three and number one. If you want to know more about controlling fuel with a carburated engine, check out some books on turbocharging air-cooled Beetles. That's where I learned those techniques. Good luck, go kick some Tim Allen/Hank Hill ***!!

there is a section in maximum boost about turbocharging carburated engines. it might be helpful, i would check, but I lost my book.
