I've read to stick your car in 5th gear if a manual, and have someone hold the brakes. Get that impact wrench on it and just don't try to loosen it, go foward, then backward, then foward, etc. Are you going to change out your water pump too? Might as well, it doesn't take much time and everything is already off. Good luck and keep us posted.
By the way, the way described above was how I changed mine also.....don't get discouraged and don't take it to honda....$300-$400

I have hit it with the impact wrench with no luck. I tried the gear and brake thing, but the trans was in first gear. I guess I'm either going to buy the tool or give up!

I actually did it by taking off the transmission and wedging a big-*** bolt into the flywheel teeth and against an engine support (sounds more painful than it looks). Worked great, but in order to use this method you have to take off the transmission .

What stops the pulley from getting all chewed up by the chain? Any idea how much the tool to do it right costs?

Moroso makes the tool as an alternative to the factory one for a lot cheaper. I am not sure exactly how much it is, but you can find out more about it at http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?catcode=27101

You dont need to pull off the trans. I do it this way all the time. Pull off the metal cover on the underside of the car that covers the flywheel. Wedge a big screwdriver between the teeth, and your set to use you 5ft breaker bar to get the bolt loose.

Works every single time.

Fifth gear works much better because in first gear you are multiplying the torque to the wheels. If you have enough leverage, it should come off.

FYI-

The moroso wrench is 65.91.. Sounds cheap to do it right to me!
