I've had this question in my mind also, between these two choices that is, I will be doing mild road racing, mostly street driving though.

If its daily and some some track time I would say the GC and Koni yellow setup rocks. The Tokico Ill. and junk2 setup would be just about as good. There is not really a need for you to get a full coil over set unless you just want the bling factor.

As I remember, the Tien spring rate was amazingly high (around 1000 lb/in I think) which would be uncomfortable for street. I'd stick with your current setup if I were you.
maybe I was
though, LOL

teins and skunk2 arent even in the same class dude.
I had the tokico/skunk set-up once before and i got it once again. Its a damn good price and for drag/street. Its still but thats what you want for the track. I pasted up the GC/koni both times because of price and fact that GC has a lower spring rate and are softer. My buddy has it on his accord and it works good on a nice riding family sedan but it is also plenty stiff.
I thing that has crossed my mind is, why dont' I see many GC/tokico or skunk/koni set-ups? Its mostly the skunk/tokico & GC/koni set-ups that we are speaking of right now.
I don't know much about the TEiNs set-up only that it's a full coilover (better then the adj spring set-up), track bred suspension and it's quite expensive.

Sorry about the misinformation. I was wrong about the spring rates on TEINs. Doh, I wonder what I was thinking! It turns out that they are either 488/244 or 671/559 depending on which model for 4gs you get.
I would think that spring rate would be fairly comfortable.

OK i think we've beat the point into the ground that Teins and other full coilover set ups are good for the track, but I'm still wondering, would the skunk2/illumina set up be sufficient for track use? Or would another combo be recommended highly over it such as the koni/GC?
i love my teins, well worth the money. i have the EK9 HA's, i don't know if their a stiffer spring rate, but do a fair bit of daily driving on them and i don't find them harsh at all, suprising too because i took the helper spring out and dumped it really low. when the shocks are set on a stiff setting the steering is much more responsive then any setup i have driven.
to TEIN
to TEIN
save up and get the real coilovers, can't wait to install them
whatever the hell they are...

Nice ones though.
if he got those ssrs on this board, they were extremely cheap, good find (i was contemplating it too). if not they are still excellent coilovers
