I'm going with Progress CSII in my ef which will see all kinds of racing events (drag, auto-x, road racing & daily driving).

The guys at Progress know what they are doing & do it well. Your paying for something that has been proven by a company with great track record & customer service. Also replacement shocks are only $60-70 if they ever go out.

If you want entry level "full coil-overs" ($500-$700), with looks over performance then go with FF type1.

As for their performance, I can honestly say I don't know many serious drivers who use entry level full coil-overs kits on their track cars. Most will run proven setup like GC & Koni or high end full coil-over setups that cost in the +$900 range.

Also think about customer service and shock servicing expense too.

Charlie Moua, thanks for your input. What springs rates are you going with and do you take into account the weight of your engine? B vs K motor?

I'm using the CSII on a EF also. I have a b motor. So far, I am very happy with the purchase.

I went with 350F/550R and also plan on ordering an extra set of rear 300R springs just for when i have to make long road trips to the tracks.

Well to be honest you don't have to really take into account if you have a d16/b16/b18.
If I recall correctly Brian of Hasport said the difference between D vs. B (full swap tranny, motor, axels mounts ect) was only 85-90lbs total.

I'm not worried about it. I would doubt that my car would handle any different with my current spring rates if i ad a D or B motor. K motor is even lighter than B motor.

If I had a J motor then I'd probably opt for 500F springs... lol

Hey I have FunctionForm Type1's on my crx and my EG for daily driving they are great and the price isn't bad either. The guys FF are great and they always answer questions. I've never used Progress But have look at there stuff for a long time and chose FF. I also race my CRX and have a set of OMNI power all aluminum coil over. as far as Spring rates most company use metris rates like 8k,10k,12k. I believe im using 10k -F and 8k Rear for daily. Check with the company shocks are valved for a min and max spring rate.

Lets simplify this up a little bit.

Progress = Function with a little bit of form.

FF1's = Form with with a little bit of function.

They've got a promotion thread in the sponsor marketplace. I've read all 20+ pages twice now.

Very informative. And you can always give them a call or shoot them a PM. Very good customer service and they care a lot about their products.

The easiest way to go about doing this is, try calling both companies. Talk to them about your build and needs. In the grand scheme of things $5-600 isn't that much $$ but you will be surprised on what one of the companies talk to you about. General question be like ie. How long has your company been around, if my shock does blow after the 1 yr how much does it cost to rebuild or how much is a replacement shock, does any of your customers actually race competitively on this set up, spring rates? That should be a good baseline of questions to start with.

Progress stuff is made in the USA by American workers.

Where is the Form and Function stuff built? China?

I actually think they're built in the USA. But there are plenty of terrible American made products, take a glance at GM.

I have CS-IIs 350/350 and they are great. Awesome customer support, and when I had an issue (I ordered DA set and I have a DB8, but they sent me the correct brackets free of charge), I got to chatting with the customer support rep Michelle. She regailed me with stories about staffers from Modified, Honda Tuning, Sport Compact Car and others that came by to do tech articles or have Progress parts installed on their own cars. Pretty cool! I love them, and even though I have only been on for 2 weeks, they are one of my favorite modifications yet.

I do plan to order a set of 500lb springs for the fronts, however.

Progress doesn't advise 500lbs front rates. They say the shocks aren't valved to support that rate.

I wish they'd offer some more option for the rates, that's my only complaint.

Yes there are definitely plenty of badly built American products. However when the quality is not in question I always opt for American stuff to help give people jobs. I think everybody should do the same.

I am almost positive the Function and Form stuff is not American made. I looked all over their site and could not find a single trace of their country of origin. Which means they are probably hiding it, which probably means Chinese made. Which usually means questionable quality.

Michelle said that they are the same front and rear dampers, and that the CSII dampers can support 500lb springs (like in the autox/drag kit, which is 350/500 part # 77.1005). I can give her a shout to confirm. I have just noticed I have been hitting the bump stops occasionally on high compression bumps.

Depends how you drive daily. The 350/250. If you drive a little more spirited then the 350/350. I think the 250 are too soft. If you plan on dropping it get the 350/350.

I have the 350/350 setup and love it, it could be 400 or 450 in the front and I'd be marginally happier as I'm a little too low for 350 up front.

it's a great compromise for daily/autocross. A good set of swaybars will go a long way as well if you don't have any.

Progress CS-II > F&F type 1's

I have had type 1's for the past 6 months and within that time frame, both front shocks have completely given out.

I now have a set of Progress coils and they're solid. They feel much better then the F&F's. I'm very pleased.
