What harness and ECU do i use for this swap???
OK, heres the deal. I have an 89 DX hatch, 5-speed. I am buying a 97 d16y8, with trans, alt, starter, dist, IM, Exh mani, injectors, fuel rail, and all sensors. Pretty much i am getting the full swap MINUS the harness and the ECU.
My question is, which harness do i buy to plug this motor, into my car?? and which ECU do i buy?
Does anybody have one of either for sale?
Thanks alot guys, i really appreciate it.

You could convert it to OBD2 if you can get your hands on the harness. The easiest way would be to do the DPFI/MPFI conversion and then use all the 88-91 Dizzy, ECU, etc etc....The 97 Dizzy doesn't do jack for you nor do the injectors. Then you would need something to activate the VTEC, such as MSD RPM Activator, V-AFC, etc etc....

so if i can find a harness from a 96-98 EX i should be ok? and just use my stock distributor? or get one from an 88-91 Si? also i would need the ECU from that Si as well?
As far as the MPFI swap, with my new setup all i would need would be the resistor box correct???
Then to activate the VTEC, just get a VAFC or MSD activator?
Sorry if i sound like a goon, but i am in a state of panic, for no reason. Im trying to hurry and memorize all this so i can start looking for the parts tommorrow.
Thanks alot

ok, you won't want to use the 96-98 EX harness b/c its obd2. this means you would need to run all obd2 parts (dist., o2 sensors, etc.). use your current motors harness and just run the extra wires.
you will need the resistor box and 2 more injector plugs when you go from dpfi to mpfi.
and you will need to use a cable clutch since you chassis is setup for a cable clutch.

my stock 89 trans, has a cable clutch in it, so i can just use that trans on the y8? or i need to buy a cable clutch that fits in the y8's trans.???
thanks
thanks

my stock DX trans w/y8 clutch & flywheel...
my stock engine harness, with VTEC wires ran/spliced...
and what ECU??? can i just use my stock ECU, and run a VTEC controller at the same time (i.e. V-AFC, MSD rpm switch, etc...)
and with this setup, what should i use for the MPFI swap.. do i just need the resistor box and 2 more injector plugs?? or do i need a different distributor?
sorry if i seem confused, thanks for all the info everyone
