Security Questions
I am sure these questions have been answered before but I did have specific security questions on Type-Rs.
I was planning on putting a simple alarm, a mechanical hood lock, and a hidden fuel cutoff switch on my car. However I went to a couple of installers today, and they were giving me the BS spiel on how an alarm would be sufficient when I did ask them if they did the other two things. But they did raise a couple of points that I am not aware of.
One told me that when they do install switches, the switch will cause the car's computer to display the check engine light because the ohms on the electrical line to the fuel pump has been altered by the switch, does anyone have that problem and is there any special fuel switch I should get.
Another person told me that he does not install the switches anymore because it is a fuel injected engine so it could cause the fuel injectors to spoil or fry (I guess that is if the switch is off when the engine is on or so).
Also, I realized that not too many people put mechanical hood locks, why is that?
Help would be appreciated, also if you have any recommendations that would be great, I have a stock R...

i have mechanical hood locks on my car ( you mean the ones that use a key to open right?) and i love them, i even painted them black to match my carbon hood, as for the switch question they dont raise check engine lights and about frying the injectors would be if the car were running and someone cut off the fuel pump and they ran dry, so if you dont mess with the switch they will be fine also it wont cause a check engine light because the switch will only be flipped on or off when the car is off.
also think of doing a starter cut off switch, just get 2 heavy gauge wires and a heavy duty switch and splce it in and hide the switch, so when the switch is off everything works fine except the motor it will just click then flip the switch and it will start.
also get a autoloc for the clutch.
the best defense is layers of protection!!!!!

dont listen to those guys get aws much as you can! it sux to have a car stolen!
my buddy has a fuel cut off switch on his R as well and he has had No problems with it.
I would also recomend the four door door handles and unplugg the inside power door lock switch (cheep and easy mods to by pass but if it takes them longer to get my baby that is a little longer it gives me to catch them)

my fuel pump switch is just a generic toggle switch from radio shack and i got no check engine lights.

a fuel pump cutoff is just a break in the line that powers the fuel pump. nothing more. just use the same guage wire as that line and make sure your switch can handle it and you're fine. it's a simple 20 minute job. the most difficult thing is deciding where to mount it.
you have a type R in philly? better lock that up real good because R's in philly have been dropping like flys.

btw...you do need a switch which can match or exceed the electric current it cut-off. You do not want the switch get overheat or blow when you're driving
Also....you only turn on the switch (kill the fuel supply) when you park the car so how the hell it can "spoil or fry" the fuel injectors
