Default AEM k&n question

A buddy of mine had his fender liner come off his gsr about a moth or so back. He waited about ttwo weeks to order one and drove without it. He drove it sparingly he says, and drove in the rain only a couple of times. The problem is, the K&n on his cai was disgustingly dirty and filled with little pieces of dirt and pebbles. I tried to get them out with my blow gun, but there is still some remaining. I'm sure I can get most of it out if I went at it a bit longer, but I wasn't expecting to find that. Also, there seemed to be some blackish powder on the inside of the intake. Not a lot, but it was noticable.

My question is, do you think this is salvageable? I have a k&n recharger kit, but I was just wondering if it was even worth it to try and clean this. As per that blackish soot, or is that normal with an AEM? Can I just take off the tube itself and clean it out? Also could there be any serious side effects from the soot?

Sorry for so many questions..but Ive never had this happen to me, so I can't help that much

Yes..how about you go clean it, it would take 1/4 of the time you spent on here asking a st00pid question.

Yeah mine was pretty nasty, and that re-charge kit did WONDERS for it.

BTW: K&N specifically says NOT to use an air hose on the filter...

No need to be a dick about it..just asking a simple question as I've never dealt with anything like this before.

I love people who try and act hard over a computer screen
