im planning on buying a turbo kit for my 01 sh. how much money should i be looking to spend and what setup do u guys recommend. and around how much hp gains should i get with the right tuning.
sorry guys about the repost. im looking to buy either turbo or supercharger for my 01 sh. how much will either of the two cost with the right setups for max hp gains. also how much hp do each give out, what setups do u guys recommend. i dont really care if my atts goes out so thats not a problem
<U>First tip:</U>SEARCH! I'm new here, but the vets tend to get kinda rowdy when you don't hit the little button in the upper right-hand corner. And when they get salty, then the "Aim-&-Flames" come out.
<U>Second tip:</U> Decide on which one (JRSC or turbo) you want first. That'll help the vets in assisting you with putting together your set-up. SC/turbo aren't interchangeable terms, each of the 2 kind of serves a different function so to speak, as in: Do you want the boost "on" full-time or do you want a cannonball shoved in your back when you hit 4000 (or whatever) rpms? Will you drag a little, hit the track or auto-x? Daily driver or project car? Will 6 or 9 psi be enough for you, or will you get bored with that and want to crank up the boost later? And just how much cash do you have/would you like to shovel into the pit?
Boost ain't cheap, done properly anyway. The total cost for either set-up will all depend on how far you want to take them, the JSRC or whatever turbo, but off-hand the turbo will cost you more, to do properly and crank up later anyway. Either of the 2 can & will blow up in your face if you cross your fingers and half-*** it. As for real $$$ expenditures, there are some turbo set-ups I've seen in my little time here that are in the low 5 figures & aren't even finished yet. If you decide to go JRSC, try to pick up a used one.
The gains on either, again, depend on how much cash you wanna spend, but the turbo can't be beat as far as sheer power potential. No matter how you slice it, you gotta pay to play and boost costs loot. Decide what your car's main function/purpose/role will be, then <U>do a search.</U>

turbo=fast but DO internals man we just installed one on my cuz's hatch with a TYPE R motor lasted 4k miles before the head gasket and heads went, the car was fast *** hell though. Supercharger is alot LESS headaches i would go with the charger, turbos are awesome though..big money and u have to change oil every 2k miles and PLUGS usually.
what you should do is really set a HP goal for yourself then you can base everything around that and the vets will surely be glad to help you out on ur decision
basically i dont really have a hp goal and if i did its not that high. i just want my car to be fast, that can beat most cars out on the streets, but at the same time a daily driven car that doesn't eat up too much gas

I could be proved wrong by someone, but IMO good luck on a 30 mpg city/250-300 whp Lude. 4-banger blown hp figures and gas mileage, in my estimation anyway, are going to be inversely proportionate and I have to be prepared for that when I add boost. I drive like a maniac and I'm getting at least 5-7 mpg less than what I should be, so what kind of mpg figure do you think I'll be getting when I mod the **** of the car, strap on a hair dryer, then fog the IC?
