thermostat and plug question
im building up a sohc d16z6 motor for a high compression settup:
rebuilt d16z6 longblock
d16a1 pistons (11.5:1 cr)
arp connecting rod bolts
d16y8 head gasket
89 integra pg7 ecu
my cr should be around 11.5-11.8:1 what degree thermostat should i go with i asked the guy at autozone today and he said it was 170 degree stock so i had him order a 160 degree one to keep my engine a little cooler i hear if its too cool you can use duct tape strips on the outside of the radiator if its too cold but i think i should be ok with a 10 degree cooler thermostat correct?
also i should go with a step colder or hotter plugs ?
and as far as ngk the lower the number the higher the plug correct?
i wont have any problems useing the stock plugs with these higger domed pistons right?
thanks
larry

The fallowing is only my idea and I am sure mnay on this board may not agree
I would run a stock thermostat...
Its set at that temp for a reason....Since the thermosat is there to help regulate the temp, I would not want it to run any cooler.
If your engine runs too cool, your fuel mapping changes running in closed loop, and you won't get full perfomance out of your car. I don't know at what temps this will happen at I have to admit.
but then again its ten degrees.

Do what they do....
Look at the:

They list the thermostst and plugs.
