Welding Aluminium to Stainless Steel?
..as the topic says: can it be done?
I have MaxRev stainless steel piping and a fabricated aluminium BOV flange (thank you local Machine Shop). I was wondering if this could be welded together? I guess there would need to be a little pipe extention.
thanks for the comments beforehand.

it cna be done but requires alot of equipment and deep under water welding to come out clean
might be possible not really feasable...options:
1. weld the flange onto a piece of al. pipe and use hose and clamps to intall it inline on your charge pipe
2. weld a stub of pipe the same size as the flange onto your charge pipe, and secure the flange to the stub with hose and clamps. probably your best bet...same way you install a bosch or similar bov (except they don't have a seperate flange, but it works out the same.

That's another $10 though.
Yeah, so say the flange is 1" where it attaches to the charge pipe.
1. Weld 2" long piece of stainless 1" dia pipe to charge pipe
2. clamp 1" i.d. rubber or silicone hose to pipe you welded onto charge pipe, secure with hose clamp
3. insert bov flange into other end of hose, secure with hose clamp
4. install bov onto bov flange...wala
Somebody with a clamp on bov like dsm or bosch help me out with a pic here!

You might be able to find some brazing rod that is compatible with both aluminum and stainless steel. Not sure though. That's what I'd look into first. As stated above, it might be easiest to just get a short al pipe and use some clamps.
ah. I see what you mean now. Good way of looking at it.
My other option was to buy one of them cheap ebay CAI's for $25 and have a nice mandrel bent aluminum charge pipe that fits right on my throttle body. Also saving me money for the welds I'd be making for the stainless steel cuts.
