Default How do I install an RSX 2003 Gauge Cluster into 91 Civic?

I'm doing this complete overhaul on my 91 Civic Si. I have a 95 JDM Prelude font end clip. I'm droping the H22a into it and redoing the entires electrical system to match the prelude.

I know that all Civics and Preludes later than 1991 use the VSS (Vehical Speed Senor) to tell the speed. Basically, I have to upgrade my Gauge cluster cause I have a mechanical cable running the speedo.

I like the looks of the 2003 RSX gauge cluster. I purchaced it and I found out it looks like a new electronic design for gauge clusters. New since 2001 or 2002 I think... I can make it fit, just the electronics can be a pain in the ***. Has anyone figured out the wiriing diagram for the RSX gauge cluster or that know how to make it wokr on 92-95 Honda cars?

This was the gauge cluster that I bought

Thanks for your help!

That will most likely be a wiring nightmare...good luck though.

I ran out of money and time, but I'm back, with a new name! See new RSX cluster threads:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1003902
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=828752

I'm determined to figure this RSX out! I have an B16A2 on the way soon, and I want this cluster working!!!! Does anyone have ny useful info?

I doubt anybody has any info for you.

How about you become the innovator and provide the info for everybody else?

I guess that is what it is comming down too. It would be helpful if other people's input who are doing the same thing. I've got a Multiplex on order, which is actually the whole Fuse/Rely box from under the dash. I'm also getting an RSX ecu. with these, I can get the cluster fully working.
My hopes are to design a circuit board with a programable microprocessor to simulate the Multiplex and ECU and sell it as a package with other RSX cluster stuff. The Multiplex is $300+ from dealership and ECU gotta be $500+ from them as well. I'll keep updating as info I get. I will have pics soon too.

I did a 96-99' cluster conv in my car...
It's a year 1990 civic with 92'-95' VTI VTEC wireing in it and then I put it
whole dash and cluster from 96'-99' VTI VTEC...real pain in the ***,
what I did I went to honda service place and ask them if they scan me the
part that has the cluster in and electrical sheme...so I took bouth schemas
from 92 and from 96' car and the put those together it took me almost one day
to figure that out and conect everything, now is working fine...

Oh yeah and I hope you do know someone at honda service place cause those books are like confidential files they don't want to give those to anyone at least in here...

It will be a heck of a job! I own a couple of crx's and a rsx and i can tell you its a complete rewiring job plus you'll have to figure out how to mount it.
Btw, it has been done in an EF already earlier this year, but the guy swapped in the whole dash. I'll dig up the link for you.

Swaping out an entire RSX dash is cheating!!! Plus, it's prolly very expensive and most of us woulnd't want to undertake such a task, or even pay someone $$$$.00

Just trying to help with the only info i've ever seen regarding the topic. It will be mostly uncharted territory, and yes, swapping the dash is one crazy and expensive project.

I've got the RSX manual downloaded from:

http://johnscustompcs.com/03rsx-s/HELMS_RSX.pdf

it's a about a 40 MB file, so be patien on downloading. I have an Unlocked version that I'm currently bookmarking, so navigating it will be a little easier. If you interested in following up on the RSX cluster project, you'll find these item around these pages useful:
Page: Description:
1211 RSX Gauge Cluster Info
1206 Under dash fuse/relay box
1324 Multiplex Control System
258 ECU Wire diagram

These are the wire diagrams that are neeeded to do a FULL RSX cluster swap. Now all you need is the componenets

I've seen his thread:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=828752

But is he finished? Can anyone IM him if he's one? I never seem to catch him. I've got a fuse box that I'm bidding on on eBay. My local Acura dealer is not going to get my $300 for a stupid fuse box!

For the records, this is not the RSX cluster in my dash. This is the picture of the Cluster that I bought when it was in the RSX. I could only wish the cluster would look that good in my 91 civic.
