d16 sleeves? strenght?
i did a search, but people talked about internals, but did not mention sleeves? how strong are the sleeves on a d16??? wats the max power someone has sput out on stock sleeves? anyone make 200whp? on a stock d16 with high mileage on it? thanks
BoostedED9 is the high end of the limit... more than you should reasonably expect. He has a car that performs like that because it's tuned spot on.
200 whp is a nice safe place for a D16 if you up the boost slowly while checking air/fuel, read your plugs, and if you've made sure you have good fuel/ignition controls.

I was wandering about stock sleeves also, not just a stock block, but with a rebuilt engine along with eagle rods/JE pistons, maybe block guard, tuned nicely with hondata, how much HP can stock sleeves support?
I would also like to hear some insight on this as well. I've searched for dseries sleeves but this is the only one thread that came up in range of my question. Can someone put down some more info on this ?

yea i think turbopanda has some toyota forged pistons w/ b16 rods and hes boosting like ~16psi

Turbopanda sugests that you use a block guard with the setup that he runs.
I like his setup, and if I build another SOHC motor, I will more than likely go this route.

darton and golen eagle both have sleeves for D16's......i have not had any experience with them yet but, i have had experience with the b series ones and i have no complaints
as with any turbo setup, you must have the best tuning and proper fuel management to maximize the potential of your stock block.
But as far as max use, I would think about 14-15 psi maximum on the stock block. Even at that, thats pretty much pushing it. I would resleeve if boosting 12psi+.

This topic always amuses me. Sleeves are pushed so hard on this site, its always the same answer "you have to sleeve if you want to push past X psi". Honestly you dont need sleeves till the 500whp+ range. The d-series sleeves are made of the same material as the b-series sleeves. They are equally as strong so you can base your assumptions on how strong the stock d-series sleeve is compared to the b-series. The b-series have seen 500-600whp range without cracking, so there is your answer. IMO sleeving is a waste for 95% of the cars on this site. Sleeve if you want to overbore to get larger displacement. Sleeve if you want to push your engine to its limits (600whp+ range). Dont sleeve if you are looking at making anything under 500whp level. Tune your engine so you dont detonate, your set. I have pushed stock b-series block to the 350-400whp level on Stock internals, Stock sleeves which supposively cannot be done.
