Default Cam Gear F22 and F23

Is there a difference in the cam gears between the F22's of the 5th gens and the F23's? I don't think there is, but just wanted to check. I'm going to get a skunk2 cam gear for my F23.

I think its worth doing, its like $100. Plus I need to get my car dynoed again to correct the V-AFC settings. I should have a zex kit in the near future also.

i'll tell you for sure if its worth it on tuesday. i'm goin to the dyno at 10am on tuesday. i'll make a baseline run then change the cam timing with it. see how much power it gives or takes

FMAX kit, gutted cat, custom exhaust, MSD 6BTM, AEM cam gear, ACT clutch, Fidanza flywheel, VAFC. thats about all that matters. last time without the 6BTM, gutted cat, and cam gear i made 221hp and 238ft/lbs running 10lbs. i WILL make 240whp this time. if i have to turn up the boost i will. i believe it should make it pretty close with running 10lbs. i'm shootin for 240hp and 250ft/lbs on a stock block

i thought ignition timing and cam timing were two different things..? haven't you taken care of the detonation by using the msd 6btm to retard your (ignition) timing..?

They are. Mine is OBD2 so the ECU puts the timing where it wants it. OBD1 it will retard both when retarding the gear.

I made 5 hp when I was NA with the cam gear.

With the turbo I made very little peak power by retarding/advancing, but it robbed me of power througout the rev range.

I actually removed it for my built F

Hopefully I get a technician to tune it that knows what he's doing this time. Last time they set the vtec crossover 400 rpm too high.

good to know-thanks for the info... i'll try and see if i can find any power with my skunk2 cam gear... but didn't you have an msd btm as a part of your setup..? do you think that and/or the obd2 ecu caused you to have poor results when retarding/advancing your aem cam gear..?

Nope. MSD BTM was always at 0 (no effect on timing).

If you want to "find" power, turn that **** on the boost controller.

X hp from the cam gear is the same strain on the engine as X hp from more boost (accompanied with more fuel). Both need dyno time anyway.
