Thanks for your help, but I heard that turbos are hard to take care of......will they beat up engines? Cut their life span?

i am also thinking of doing a homemade turbo setup, but as you just said, i have heard rumors that turbos are high maintanance, if i can get an honest answer, it might help me decide on FI or N/A

Well turbo requires a little more attention to your motor. You need to keep up on the oil changes and regular maintenance. It does take some time and money.. but you will be very happy with a turbo motor.. believe me ive seen it many times.. but like i said it takes time.. you need to gather the right parts.. i.e turbo, wastegate, manifold, piping, intercooler, fmu.. etc... good luck.. let us know how it goes

Anything that puts more power into an engine will decrease the life, but the torque is worth it I think. Remember that the most important part of a turbo system is the fuel management. Putting the right amount of fuel witht he right amount of air will prevent knock (detonation), which is what will bring the life of your engine to a very quick end.

P.S. To learn everythig you ever wanted to know about turbos, read Corky bell's book, Maximum Boost
