What are some of the best ways to beef up a 97 civic engine without swapping
i just got this 97 civic and i want to add some extra ponies to it i'm curious, i realy can't afford an engine swap i know everybody on this tech page knows some really helpful **** so im all ears....
Intake, header, Exhaust, Cams, Cam Gears are the basics

well it depends, is it d16y8 or non vtec?????? but i agree intake, exhaust.... also look into a head job like from gude. but there is an unlimited amount potencial. do not swap to dohc. you can build you d16 to be just as fast. or just drop a lil nitrous in it but be very careful. all power lies in the proper tuning. peace. stay sohc

anyway do as the others said, also look into high compression pistons. you can safely go up to 12.0:1 comp on pump gas with good tuning. that a cam and a little head work and you will have a nice little street car. is this a Y8? if its not put a Y8 intake manifold on and and a LS throttle body

save up money for a swap. The money your gonna waste for those bolt-ons are about 1/3 to 1/2 of the price of a swap anyways. Make a poll and see what other HT members think.
