usally just regular 10-30 will work fine, unless you have an lsd then you shoul run something made for the lsd like redline fluid

I only use Honda MTF. It's the best in my mind. I would stay away from 10-30

Yes, in all Honda Helms service manuals that I have seen, say that any 10-30 is only for temporary use until you can use Honda MTF. There are additives in the Honda MTF that are designed for the syncronyzers, seals, and o-rings. Kinda like how the Power steering fluid is for the Power steering system!

I have used both engine oil and honda MTF and redline and do not notice a difference in shifting at all. if you have hard shifting then trans oil type is probably not your problem.

I only use honda manual transmission fluid. By the way, here is the link that someone asked the same question 2 days ago.

I had a 3rd gear gring in my Y1 tranny. I put in some Honda MTL, and the grind went away.

I use 10w30 in my tranny. The tranny has always had a grind from second-third shift...it just got progressively worse... but, it's largely due to the 5000miles of racing placed on it.
