Default Lost compression in one cylinder options I have.

I am able to buy a brand new engine for my car its called a D16z2 I guess thats the modern version of my 13year old zc sohc...

My car still is going fine, I guess I have cracked a ring or something leaking a bit of oil and have lost compression.
I am wondering what to do should I attempt to rebuild the engine with standard internals apart from rods and pistons about $1500US at least, or just buy a brand new motor will about $500US.. Brand new never run at all I think I should get a couple years out of one of these??? 8psi daily 11psi at the track no detonation.

Where are you leaking oil, if you have a cracked ring you should be blowing it out
the exhaust, in that case you would have to tear it down and examine cylinder wall to see if it's toe up. If its damaged you may have problems getting a fresh ring to seat properly, but this would be the less expensive route if you perform your own labor. Kind need more info, where is oil leaking from?
