cylinder compression
hi im not that good with the mechanical stuff so this may be a stupid question owell.
i need to know if your compression on your cylinders is low can you increase the compression on your cylinders, and around how much would it cost
thanks

Well, it could be a piston/ring pack problem. Or oil could be leaking into your cylinder.
So, in order to raise it back up, fix the leak or put in new pistons($$$).
Technically, you could mill your head to raise it up again, but i wouldn't advise that w/out a healthy engine. Good luck, hope this helps some. Cost could be anywhere--depending on the exact problem.
Anyone else have an idea?

Compression can leak one or both of two places (in general), at the rings or at the valves. You will probably be looking at needing a full rebuild depending on the mileage. The valves could be bent causing improper seating or rings could be shot. Also you timing could be off causing some of the compressed air on the compression stroke to leak out. If you have had your timing belt replaced recently you might want to check that the engine is properly timed.
