To members with SMSP cat. converter...
could you do me a favor and take a picture of the inlet or outlet of the cat with a ruler held up to measure the diameter? could you also list what is the advertised diameter of the cat. thank you in advance. -demitri
Do you mean the inner diameter of the flange opening? If so, I believe it is 2.5" inner diameter. Contact Dave himself and I'm sure he will be more than happy to answer any questions.
As I said, Dave has more experience with Carsound cats. than anyone I can think of, and will have no problem answering all of your questions. I'm quite certain that the flange is 2.5" ID, because he tapers his cat-backs' B-pipe flanges to eliminate the mismatch between the cat's 2.5" ID outlet and the 2.5" OD tubing used on the cat-back. Still, why not just ask him anything you still need answered?
EDIT: It didn't occur to me that you might not realize that Dave Stadulis is the owner of SMSP.

The 2-1/2" universal cats are measured as the ID. This is so the muffler shops can just slide the tubing in each end and weld them up. For my 2-1/2 cats. I use a short piece of 2.50" OD x .071" wall 409 sst and flare it for the donut. So the ID of the inlet shouldbe around 2.36". On the outlet side, the 3 bolt flange slides over the tubing so the ID is 2.50" +. This is why I do a taper flare on my B pipes so they will be at least 2.50" ID at the inlet and there will be no mismatch.
