setting ignition timing
when setting the timing what does jumping the connector do anyways??? is the check engine light suppose to come on cause it dont seem to come on right away. what happens if i juss set the timing without jumping the connector thing???
if you set the ingnition timing w/o jumping the connector, i might not be set right, jumping the connector sets the engine/ecu to a 'base' mode, with set fuel and timing trims, if the connector were not jumped, the engine would be running at whatever the conditions were at that given point in time (say at the time you were setting the timing it was running at -2* from what base is, you set your timing to 18* and itll end up being 16*) i cant really explain clearly right now..

wat about the check engine light? is that suppose to come on? mine doesnt come on right away but i think it comes on when i start moving the distributor around.
[QUOTE]I have a B16 in my EF, but I can't seem to locate the jumper. From what I've read, it should be blue and located by the ECU right?
[/QUOTE
It should have a yellow cap on it. It is located under the hood, on the left fender...drivers side.
