I was looking at your other post about the resistor. I would replace it with the same value. Looks like thats the problem.
As for the caps, I haven't run them but I do run a P75. I DO NOT have a R54, yeah I was confused too. On the Hondata website they say they only used the caps on one occasion when emulation would not work right.
Remove J12, change that resistor and see how that goes. You can do it!!!
And that resistor that you have thats burnt, mine is gold gold green green also.

I have a P75 and I have all the stuff on there...2 caps, 1 resistor and the 20 pin DIP.
And of course you know I sell this stuff if you need a "chipping kit" or any of that good stuff.

According to the Hondata site though, he needs the C51 and C52 capacitors.

But this could be another isolated case. I doesn't hurt to try.

Im have a question about the Hondata setup with OBD1 ECUs. Does the ECU have to be chipped? Why? And who can do it?
You do not need the capacitors, and it will not cause your ecu to fry. usually Fried ECU's are from shorted our wires. Look at the bottom of our ECU and see if there is anything burned up there. You may also just have bad wiring in the car.
agreed, these are just filter bypass caps for the power supply to the chips. you need not install them. i personally put them in anyway because they can't hurt. guaranteed, that is not the source of your problem.
