Anyone use Total Seal Rings?
have any of you guys used total seal rings? im in a rebuild right now i was thinking about these because im boosting, but would JE rings be just as good?
what exactly makes total seal total ****? I've never used them but I would like to know. Is it that a boosted engine needs a little bit of blowby or what?

Quite the opposite....
They take a long time to seat (if they do at all) for one thing. Second, I heard that when you hone the crosshatch on your cylinders, that they need to be really coarse for it to seat.

here's my compression just for your info: cylinder 1= 150, 2 = 85, 3 = 50, 4 = 140. I ran them for about close to 6 months!! damn things didn't want to settle in. so that's why i'm changing pistons and rings.
i have total seals in my motor right now, compression was 170, 175, 170, 170. The only reason i got them was because i needed them asap to finish my rebuild and drive my car. Car has had about 25k miles on it since the last rebuild...no problems since.
I used total seal in my b16a w/no problems. I got them in my new motor too. It all depends on the machine shop that does the honing.
