Do LS/VTEC Or rebuild and port LS head??
Ok, I bought a wrecked integra to pull the b18a out of and put in a crx. Well the valve cover was left off and it needs to be rebuilt.
So to my question. Should I buy a b16 head for 350-400 bucks and 50-80 bucks to make it work. Plus a head gasket for 40 plus a timing belt for 50?
Or port the LS head and rebuild it? It would be 150 for head set. And 50 for timing belt.
So, would the extra money be worth it for the vtec? Thanks in advance.

you'd still have to buy the ecu and the wiring harness from a b16 equipped car... but if you got the money than go for it. What are your plans for the car? All motor or Forced Induction?
You dont need a engine wiring harness, but I highly recommend a PR3/PWO ecu w/ some type of air/fuel controller if you are going to run a ls/vtec. The stock PR4 map blows *** for ls/vtec, the PR3 & pw0 are ok, but you need some extra fuel added in, the b16a fuel maps are not enough,.
well if the engine is that old why would you want to ls/vtec with no rebuild any ways?????? Rebuild the block no matter what, if your going for performance and reliability sticking LS or LS/VTEC. If your not gonna do it right, dont do it.....I Agree with a PR3/PW0 ECUS I have a PR3 awaiting on my ls/vtec.
if you're doing an lsvtec, I'd suggest to rebuild the block too. Matting the 2 (ls & vtec) without building your block will even result with less power than a built ls head...
rebuild like berings or you mean new rods and pistons?
also, if i stick with just ls is the 90-91 teg ecu better than a 89 teg ecu? Or vice-versa

building block means, new higher comp pistons, new bearings...you can use stock rods or dpends on what type of pistons you're using if they'll match. getting em balanced along with the crank would be a nice addition while you're at it. Regarding the ECU, I'd use the newer one (90-91)...dont know exactly the difference but newer means better, in my opinion at least. so anyone here, feel free to prove me wrong.
Not necessary new rods and pistons, if there still good reuse them. Ring, bearings, balancing, block honed, head & main bolts, gaskets etc just a normal rebuild
i don't really have the money for all that. I will probably just rebuild and p&p the head. maybe get some exospeed cams for it.
