Blew my block and need your opinion
Wassup people.. I blew my block (NOS) and need to replace it asap! I got a good question for everyone.. I want to know which block would you preffer for a type- R head (all internals are from b18c5) would i need to bore the ls block to match the ITR pistons? which block do i need to buy? b16 or b18? i wanted to go LS vtec but alot of things i heard from it is not really good so what do you guys preffer if youre doing the same project??i need your opinion people!!

all b-series blocks have the same bore except the b20.. so there is no need to bore out an LS block to fit ITR pistons in it.
people said LS/VTEC is not "really good"?.. false, the builder determines how good the LS/VTEC set up will work.
you need to replace your block ASAP, but it doesnt sound like you're ready to commit to an LS/VTEC set up. i say just get another c5 block.

Thanks for the big info bro! does it matter if i put it on a B18c1 coz right now thats the only option i have to rebuild my motor..
B16A blocks have a shorter deck height, meaning that you will have to run shorter rods for a 1.8 litre application.
LS/VTEC can be a powerful, well-built setup. Or it can be a fussy, oil-leaking POS. Depends entirely on the execution.
But with a B18C1 block you will have few worries. Quite simply, there's less to go wrong because that block was designed for a VTEC head. I wouldn't bother with the extra expense of a B18C5 block, especially if you are using C5 internals anyway.
What exactly did you damage on your original block? Pistons? Rings? Sleeves?

well theres a big crack on the block and i think the sleeves went...
so i think if im going to rebuilt might as well go force induction, but what do think i need to change, i mean i have itr internals already but what are the parts that i need to upgrade to do turbo?

turbo? sleeved block, lower comp pistons and lots of tuning....
or do what i did....bore a gsr block to 2l, build it, tune it and hit 210+ at the wheels all motor..lotsa lotsa fun!

if you already have the internals then just use b18c1 or you could resleeve your old block if all it needs is the sleeve. tear the motor down and have a machine shop
look at it have them give you an estimate on how much is it to fix,

.....if it's JUST the sleeves, then get it resleeved at golden eagle.
Otherwise, depends on your budget... forged pistons will be recommend for b00st - as will upgraded rods...

What brand of pistons, rods should i buy? any suggestion on what site i could go to look at parts? thanks everyone for the big info!
